What a fantastic and glorious day it was at the Sandy Bay Mini Rugby Festival on the weekend at Kings Park. A big shoutout to all of our club members that helped to organise and run this large event.
In our second contact festival of the season, the intensity from all the teams across Hong Kong definitely stepped up a level as the players had more understanding of the games objectives and critical areas to be successful during play, especially at the ruck.
Our three teams (the second largest club entry in the age group) performed with all the skills and effort that we affect from our developing players. Maintaining a winning % across our four games for all teams is something the coaches and parents should be very proud of.
A special mention goes out to all our girls in U9. They are fearless in this mixed age group. There is no doubt a girls only team would be one of the strongest in Hong Kong against other girls only opposition and hopefully we get the opportunity to prove that at a girls festival later in the season.
Our coaches also have received compliments from other opposition coaches about the excellent play demonstrated by our players, especially at the ruck. It's such an important area of the game, and despite the favourable comments, we will continue to focus on developing this skill and area of the game in our training.
Lastly a special shout out to our parents (especially HKU1) who were positively vocal along the sidelines right up until the last seconds of their last game. The players definitely lift another level if they are getting the positive support from the sidelines from the parents. So keep up the support from the sidelines as it creates such a great atmosphere for the players!
I believe the merchandise store it still open too. Just imagine how good you can look! Get some supporters kit!
